Actually it makes perfect sense...

if you check your folder options you will realize that in your new pc you have deactivated an option that says "Hide extension of known type of files" check or uncheck this option as necessary and you problems will be solved

for this..at any open folder go to

Tools -%26gt; Folder Options -%26gt; and the second tab has this options scroll down and you will find it

Make sure you put .mp3 at the end of the name.
never mind... do what that guy below said... hide known file extensions...
There is a setting in Windows Explore that determines whether the file extension is displayed (.mp3) On your old computer the .mp3 extension still existed, it just wasn't shown.

You can do this on your new computer as well by going to MyComputer and then clicking "Tools" from the menu and clicking "Folder Options" and click the "View Tab" and then find and check the check box for "Hide extensions for know file types".

You can't really get rid of the ".mp3" extension itself or your computer won't know it's an mp3.
