Trying to listen to music on Packard Bell MP3 player...

Have discovered that when I connect the MP3 player to PC I can open files and there is all the music on-screen. And I can play it with I-Tunes or Windows Media Player or whatever..

but disconnect the MP3 player and there's nothing to listen to.. no music on it to access!! Any advice would be much appreciated! :o)
